What they do: Provide lunch daily, food distribution weekly, referrals for emergency food, provide crisis shelter, vouchers for clothing, emergency assistance with water, power, and rent (as funding allows)

Who is eligible? Lunch is open to everyone. Friday food distribution is open to everyone. Call to apply for other assistance.

Spirit of Faith

Type of service: Soup Kitchen

What they do: Provide free meals to those in need.

Jacksonville Food Center ​

Type of service: Food Center

What they do: Provide emergency food every 6 months, and bakery or produce every week

Who is eligible? Emergency food provided based on family size and income, once every 6 months. Bakery or produce open to all.

Referral needed? Referral required from one of the following: Salvation Army, The Laborers’ Home, MCS Services, Memorial Behavioral Health, DCFS, JCIL, Red Cross, Volunteers of America, Women’s Crisis Center, many churches

Best way to access services: For produce or bakery, walk in. For emergency food box, get a referral.

MCS Community Services (Morgan/Cass/Scott)

Type of service: Financial Aid
What they do: Scholarships available for post-secondary educational or vocational programs during the Spring.
Who is eligible? Open to those who meet income or other program guidelines. Resident of Morgan, Cass, or Scott county. Post-secondary program must be in Illinois. See website for details.

Morgan County Health Department​

Type of service: Food assistance

What they do: WIC, Lactation consultant, Lactation educator

Who is eligible? low-income pregnant women, postpartum women up to six months after delivery, breastfeeding women up to 12 months after delivery, infants up to one year of age, and/or children up to their fifth birthday (see website for income guidelines)

Community Cupboard

Located inside the DHS Family and Community Resource Building

Hours: 8:30 am – 5 pm (Monday – Friday)

The community cupboard is located inside the front lobby.  Staple pantry items are stocked weekly by Midwest Youth Services.

There are no income guidelines, applications, or verification. If you are hungry and in need, please take what you need.
